TPO (Thermoplastic Polyolefin)

• TPO is a single-ply reflective roofing membrane made from polypropylene and ethylene-propylene rubber polymerized together. It is typically installed in a fully adhered or mechanically attached system, allowing the white membrane to remain exposed throughout the life of the roof. The membrane comes in a variety of reinforced or non-reinforced thicknesses and roll widths.

Modified Bitumen

• Often referred to as SBS (Styrene Butadiene Styrene) or APP (Atactic Polypropylene), modified bitumen consists of a rubber and asphalt bitumen blend for flexibility combined with fibreglass or polyester for reinforcement. The product is manufactured into sheets or rolls and applied in one, two, or three plies however, two-ply is the most common. The material can be incorporated into a conventional or inverted roof system. Modified bitumen roof systems can be installed with common torch applied methods, asphalts, or cold adhesives.

BUR (Built-Up Roofing)

• Built-Up roof systems are constructed with layers of felt and bitumen that are applied hot and left to cool. They are then covered with gravel, a mineral sheet cap, or other weather resistant coatings. Generally, BUR systems are three or four ply. The layering of the bitumen and felt provide enhanced water resistance.
